She has been called a Midwest Blues Diva and has been crowned "Detroit's Queen of the Blues". Thornetta Davis is simply a powerhouse performer. She has received numerous awards during her career including more than 30 Detroit Music Awards, and a sweep of the 2017 and 2018 DMA'S.

Thornetta's career started by playing in two bands, "Lamont Zodiac and The Love Signs" and "The Chisel Brothers featuring Thornetta Davis". "Sunday Morning Music", her first solo effort, was recorded in 1996 on the legendary Seattle-based Sub Pop label. Her playing career is impressive as she has opened for blues and soul legends Ray Charles, Gladys Knight, Smokey Robinson, Etta James, Buddy Guy, Koko Taylor, Junior Wells, Lonnie Brooks, Johnnie Johnson and many more. She has also performed with Bonnie Raitt, Bob Seger, and Kid Rock.

In September 2016, she released the album Honest Woman, which was named Best Soul Blues Album of the Year by Blues Blast magazine, as well as earning eight Detroit Music Awards. Thornetta not only self-produced the album but put it out on her own label, Sweet Mama Music.

Thornetta has played in Newburyport during 2018's Americana Rhythm and Roots Festival. Many people were not familiar with Thornetta before her performance but she became the talk of the festival after her blistering high-energy performance. Belleville Roots is pleased to bring Thornetta back to Newburyport!
